Tina and Kyle Gain New Certification in Inclusive Outdoor Practice
Congratulations to Tina and Kyle from Woodland Adventure Zone, who have successfully completed the Level 2 Introduction to Disability and Adaptive Equipment in the Outdoors certification on 17th–18th January 2026.
Over the two-day course, Tina and Kyle explored disability and inclusion within the outdoor environment, deepening their understanding of how to create meaningful, accessible experiences for all participants. The sessions encouraged thoughtful discussion around individual capabilities, challenging perceptions and asking important questions such as: “What type of performer are you?” — prompting reflection on how instructors present themselves and adapt to the needs of those in their care.
A key part of the training focused on hands-on experience with accessibility equipment. Tina and Kyle had the opportunity to test specialist kit from a participant’s perspective, gaining valuable insight into how it feels to use the equipment as well as how to safely and effectively operate it. This practical element allowed them to better understand the physical and emotional experience of participants with additional needs.
What This Means for Woodland Adventure Zone
Woodland Adventure Zone already has some accessible equipment in place, and this qualification has given Tina and Kyle the chance to explore that kit in greater depth. They were also introduced to newer versions and innovations, helping them consider how the woodland team can continue to enhance and personalise experiences for every individual who visits.
Their new knowledge and confidence will support the woodland team in building an even more inclusive outdoor offer — ensuring that every participant, regardless of ability, can access adventure, challenge and fun in a way that works for them.
Well done, Tina and Kyle!
