Things you might want to know about visiting the

Woodland Adventure Zone

 

Where is the Woodland Adventure Zone?

We are at Portland College, off the A60 near Mansfield.  Our full address is Portland College, Nottingham Road, Mansfield, NG18 4TJ. 

How much does it cost?

This depends on your activity. For example, individual bookings are £20 per person. Party packages are £20 per person. To find out more click here.

What is the minimum number of people for exclusive party bookings?

This depends on the individual requirements of the group and staff to participant ratios required to support individual needs. We would normally require a minimum of six people per party booking, however, our dedicated team are here to make sure everyone gets the best experience. Please contact us for more details.

Can wheelchair users take part?

Yes, the activities are fully accessible and our staff are trained and experienced in supporting participants with disabilities.

Is there a minimum age?

All participants must be at least 7 years old to take part in harnessed activities.  

Everyone will be asked to sign a participant form.  If you’re under the age of 16 then we will need a parent or legal guardian to sign your participant form on arrival.   

Is there a minimum or maximum weight limit?

The maximum weight limit for any harnessed activity is 120 kilograms (18.89 stone). There is no minimum weight limit.

Do children need to be accompanied by an adult?

Children under 16 will need to be supervised by an adult.  We will require at least 1 adult to every 8 children aged up to 16 years old.

What should I wear?

As you will be outside, we recommend you dress for the weather and wear something you don’t mind getting muddy.

Sturdy footwear with a good grip is advisable.  Open-toed or slip-on footwear is not permitted on the activities.

You may wish to wear gloves even if it isn’t cold.

There are changing facilities if you want to get changed before or afterwards.  If it is raining you may wish to bring a change of clothing.

Is there car parking?

Yes, free car parking is available. Simply sign in with your vehicle details at main reception.

Where do I go when I arrive?

Just head straight for the Portland College main reception.

Where are the nearest toilets?

The toilets are located in the main reception area.

Is there anywhere to store my valuables?

We don’t recommend bringing valuables with you.  Anything left in your vehicle is done so at your own risk.  We can store smaller personal items, such as watches, phones, wallets and keys in a lockable cabinet. 

Please note that any personal belongings are left at your own risk.

What happens in bad weather?

Our outdoor activities will operate rain or shine.  All cancellations due to weather will be the decision of the Woodland Adventure Zone staff, and are generally caused by lightning, heavy rains, ice or high winds.

If this happens, we will do our best to contact you before and reschedule or provide a voucher for another time.  If you are unable to attend another time, a full refund will be given.

Can I buy food?

We have vending machines where you can purchase a drink or snacks.  You are welcome to bring your own food with you.  Depending on the date of your visit, our new Coffee Shop may be open, to find out more visit www.portland.ac.uk.

For Corporate Team Days, there are options for catering.  Please contact us for more details.

How many goes do you get on the climbing wall and zip-line?

For climbing, abseiling and zip-line bookings, this depends on your group size and experience. We will always ensure you have the opportunity to have at least one go.

What is the eligibility criteria for free school groups?

Primary, secondary and specialist schools within the Mansfield and Ashfield District are eligible to apply for a free session, subject to availability. Please contact our team for more information.

What if I’m late?

If you are running late and are likely to miss some or all of your booked session, please let us know as soon as possible. We will always do our best to accommodate your needs, but if we are unable to find a solution we will be unable to offer a refund.
